PillCam Capsule Endoscopy Preparation

• If you are diabetic, please hold your oral diabetic medications the morning of the Capsule Endoscopy.
• If you take iron or vitamins containing iron, please hold for four days prior to your Capsule Endoscopy.
• If you smoke, please abstain from smoking 24 hours prior to undergoing Capsule Endoscopy.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT consume any red-, pink-, or purple-colored liquids. DO NOT consume any milk/cream products. DO NOT consume any alcoholic beverages.

• Water
• Vitamin Water (no red, pink, or purple)
• Broth / Bouillon
• Jell-O (no red, pink, or purple)
• Coffee & Tea (no dairy or cream)
• Fruit Juice without Pulp (apple, white grape, white cranberry) (no red, pink, or purple)
• Sports Drinks (Gatorade, G2, Powerade, etc.) (no red, pink, or purple)
• Popsicles without Fruit or Pulp (no red, pink, or purple)
• Pop / Soda (Coke, Diet Coke, etc.) (no red, pink, or purple)

• Have nothing to eat or drink before your capsule endoscopy. Do not take any medication beginning two hours before undergoing capsule endoscopy.
• Arrive at the office dressed in loose fitting, two-piece clothing.
• Please do not wear lipstick to the appointment, as it can smear the lens of the camera.

• Do not eat or drink for at least two hours. You may have clear liquids two hours after swallowing the capsule, and you may take any of your normal medications.
• After four hours, you may have a light snack.

After the examination is completed and the equipment is removed, you may return to your normal diet.
