Dr. Makola graduated from the University of Zimbabwe, Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1985. He practiced general medicine and pediatrics in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Lesotho for 12 years before coming to the United States in 1995. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and Nutrition from Loma Linda University and a Ph.D. in Nutrition from Cornell University, NY.
Dr. Makola completed his Internal Medicine residency training at the Kettering Medical Center in 2004. In 2007, he completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and has published a number of scientific papers in leading gastrointestinal journals. Dr. Makola is married and has three children. He enjoys teaching, music, soccer, attending church services, and spending time with his family and friends.
