General Essential Functions
- The front desk staff maintains the flow of patients and their information throughout the office in a timely and efficient manner.
- Check in patients as they arrive. This activity includes checking for changes or additions to patient’s demographics and insurance and making the necessary modification in the practice management computer system.
- Obtaining the patient signature on the appropriate privacy and payment form.
- Obtaining or handing out the PMI form for completion Notify the patient escort and/or MA of patient arrival.
- Check in patients reporting to the lab and find the necessary requisition form.
- Check next day’s charts to ensure each patient on the schedule has a chart.
- Answer phone calls as necessary.
- Maintain daily schedules for clinic.
- Run packets and labels for Endoscopy charts.
- Collect payments and maintain an accurate account of monies taken throughout the day and balance batch.
- Monitor coffee bar and restrooms for supplies and cleanliness.
- Assist with scanning.
- Check out patients as they leave. This activity includes scheduling endo, clinic and recall appointments, communicating with the appropriate department ancillary testing like lab and imaging, printing patient discharge instructions and other forms as required.
- Post charges for failure to pay co-pay.
- Run clinic chart pull schedule and create temporary clinic chart; stuffing with appropriate forms.
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality with all employee information/records
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent required. Experience in a health care environment desirable
