As a clinical research practice, Dayton Gastro’s goal is to assist pharmaceutical and medical device industries in developing new and effective products to treat a multitude of medical conditions and illnesses. All prescription medications must undergo several phases of research and development prior to receiving FDA approval and becoming available for patient use.
Research with a Cause
Dayton Gastroenterology physicians are actively involved in the research of new therapies to treat digestive diseases. In fact, many currently-marketed GI medications were initially tested here in our office using qualified patient volunteers. By conducting clinical trials, our physicians are not only able to stay on the scientific frontier of the most recent therapies, but they are also often able to provide a broader range of treatment options for our patients.
In the past ten years, we have helped develop new medications for many gastrointestinal and liver ailments including ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcers, dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome.
