General Essential Functions
The Clinical Medical Assistant (MA) serves as the direct clinical liaison between the physician and patient.
- Assist physician as necessary with office visits.
- Notify patients of test results
- Respond to patient portal messages and patient phone calls
- Manage patient prescriptions as directed
- Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments
- Manage referrals as directed
- Maintain patient centered data
- Management of patient orders in the EHR using order management.
- Chart preparation of results and documents for the next day’s visits
- Cleaning and stocking rooms, cleaning rooms between patients
- Medication refills and prior authorizations
- Outpatient testing and pre-certification, hospital procedure orders and records
- FMLA, Disability, Records Requests
- Assist with patient recalls as directed.
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality with all employee information/records
Education and Experience
- Certified Medical Assistant, Trained medical assistant or equivalent education. CPR certified. Previous medical office experience, particularly GI focus is helpful.
- Medical office management operations, medical background is preferred, concentration or willingness to obtain advanced knowledge in GI specialty essential.
