All prescription medications must undergo several phases of research and development prior to receiving FDA approval and being available for patient use. All Dayton Gastroenterology, Inc. physicians are actively involved in the research of new therapies to treat gastrointestinal and liver diseases. In fact, many currently marketed GI medications were initially tested here in our office, using qualified patient volunteers.
By conducting clinical trails, our physicians are not only able to stay on the scientific frontier of the most recent therapies, but are also often able to provide a broader range of treatment options for our patients. In the past ten years, we have helped develop new medications for any many of the gastrointestinal and liver ailments, including Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Heartburn, Erosive esophagitis, Peptic ulcers, Dyspepsia, and Irritable bowel syndrome. Study participants receive study medication and study related health care at no charge to them or their insurance company. Participants are usually compensated for their time and travel.
