The Fifth Annual "No Buts About It" 5k Run/Walk
For Colon Cancer Awareness was a Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in the Fifth Annual "No Buts About It" 5k Run / Walk for Colon Cancer Awarenes on Saturday, March 31, 2012. The event was a huge success with 701 people participating this year.

The NBAI 5K is a nonprofit 501©3 event in recognition of March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The 5k is designed to raise awareness that Colorectal Cancer is the number 3 cancer killer in the U.S., according to the American Cancer Society, and it may be preventable when caught early enough through a screening procedure. Participants were able to visit the colon display and were encouraged to get screened, as appropriate.

Over 20 health fair rorganizations were on hand, including physicians from Dayton Gastroenterology, before and after the event, to answer health related questions.

A complete list of award winners is located at www.speedy-feet.com. Photos will be posted soon!

Net proceeds of the NBAI 5K Run/Walk provide screening colonoscopies for uninsured persons in economic hardship who meet the medical criteria.  Final invoices are still being processed and net proceeds will be posted soon - stay tuned!

Special thanks to Pam Elliot, News Anchor, WDTN-TV News who emceed the event, Rick LaBeau, DJ, and all of the volunteers, businesses and individual participants who made this event a success - we couldn't have done it without you!
